Instructional Product Designer

We need a talented Instructional Product Designer that will enable us to introduce a new suite of leading edge products and services to the marketplace and help us leave all competition way behind!

We are looking for a motivated, hard-working, and hands-on individual who will:

Instructional Design

  • Create interactive and engaging instructional materials and activities for instructor-led classroom and live virtual delivery programs using sound adult learning and design principles
  • Work independently or collaborate with other instructional product designers and/or subject matter experts to create new courses and maintain existing ones, in compliance with internal standards and external accreditation requirements
  • Manage own projects with transparency and visibility into work-in-progress and full accountability for assigned workload
  • Obtain or build the necessary visual aids to support effective course design and delivery
  • Interpret complex information and translate it into diagrams and similar visual representations to support instructional message
  • Deliver product awareness presentations to sales team

Product Management

  • Collaborate with the rest of the Product Management team and multiple stakeholders such as the Marketing, Sales, and the Delivery teams to plan for smooth product releases impacting the entire network of international partners
  • Communicate with international partners relative to product changes or releases
  • Support coordination and communication between the company and its franchises, global partner network, Examination Institutes, governing bodies and professional associations for the purpose of product and trainer accreditation
  • Participate in the team’s continual service improvement efforts through addressing known errors, product defects, and recommending process improvements
  • Develop, maintain, and create content for a knowledge management system and database that documents all product management and accreditation practices, standards and requirements for transparency with internal and external stakeholders

Note: This is an office-based position in Burlington, ON (QEW & Burloak Drive)

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS:

Education or Equivalent Experience

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree or equivalent education in one of the following fields: Education or Adult Learning
  • Minimum of three (3) years demonstrated experience with in-class and live virtual Instructional Design
  • Experience managing own projects using a standardized approach, framework or methodology and efficient collaboration and project management tools
  • Previous experience with multiple projects in a commercial environment where product development was used for external client training purposes preferred
  • Experience with quality management, vendor or partner relationship management is an asset

Skills

  • Instructional Systems Design thinking with focus on instructor-led classroom and live virtual delivery
  • Research, synthesis and analysis
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills
  • Excellent writing (grammar, spelling, punctuation, style)
  • Intermediate graphic design skills and artistic inclination
  • Taking initiative and having strong self-organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize, and account for own tasks
  • Attention to detailed document management
  • Working under pressure in rapidly changing environment
  • Enthusiasm for automation, organization and cloud-based collaboration tools
  • Working with remote stakeholders across multiple time zones
  • Experience with traditional or agile project management frameworks considered an asset
  • Multimedia design and self-paced course authoring considered an asset

Technical Qualifications

  • Advanced MS PowerPoint
  • Strong proficiency with MS Excel and MS Word
  • Experience working with project management and collaboration tools (e.g., SharePoint, Slack, Trello) is an asset
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (e.g., Moodle) is an asset
  • Proficiency with other MS Office products, including Access and Visio, is an asset
  • Familiarity with e-learning development tools (e.g., Storyline, Captivate) is an asset
  • Knowledge of web conferencing tools (e.g., WebEx) capabilities is an asset
  • Experience with Adobe Cloud suite products, such as Photoshop and Illustrator, considered an asset
