Value Stream Mapping is a Lean tool that provides organizations with a holistic view of their processes, helping to identify inefficiencies and areas for improvement across all business functions and disciplines including IT service management. It is a powerful tool for breaking down silos within an organization, as it encourages collaboration and communication across different departments and functions.
Using numerous IT service management examples, the two-day Value Stream Mapping certification course is a highly practical and applied program that covers process design, assessment, and improvement using Lean principles. It provides individuals with the necessary knowledge to identify and eliminate waste, shorten lead and cycle times, and improve flow across the IT value chain, ultimately enhancing all business processes, including ITSM.
Attendees will learn value stream mapping techniques, including current state mapping, future state mapping, and value stream design. Upon completion, individuals will be equipped to drive continuous improvement within their organizations by optimizing processes, reducing waste, and improving flow across the IT value chain, supporting business and IT service management objectives.
This covers the following areas:
- Process design: This section focuses on the principles of Lean thinking and process design. Participants will learn how to create value for customers while eliminating waste and reducing cycle times. They will also learn about the different types of waste that can occur in processes and how to identify them.
- Assessment and improvement: In this section, participants will learn how to assess current processes and identify areas for improvement. They will learn how to use tools such as value stream mapping, process flow analysis, and root cause analysis to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
- Value stream mapping techniques: This section covers the different types of value stream mapping techniques, including current state mapping, future state mapping, and value stream design. Participants will learn how to use these techniques to identify waste, optimize processes, and improve flow across the IT value chain.
Overall, this course provides candidates with the tools and techniques they need to drive continuous improvement within their organizations.
