Tracks, Speakers & Sessions

We dedicate Pink20 to Batman!

Unlike other superheroes, Batman doesn’t possess any super powers. Yet, he does many extraordinary things because of his ingenuity, his ability to create very clever inventions, his use of cutting-edge tools and technology, and his courage. We draw upon this theme to help illustrate how ordinary people can do extraordinary things in IT.

To help in your selection process, each session has been described as General, Beginner, or Beyond Beginner. Use the following chart as your guide to choose the session that best fits your individual situation.

Code Description
General These sessions are of general interest to everyone regardless of their level of knowledge, experience or industry certification.
Beginner These sessions are aimed at those who are new to the subjects presented and do not possess industry certification or have just started project implementation.
Beyond Beginner These sessions are for those with practical implementation experience and have attained knowledge of the subject beyond the foundation level.

Track 1: IT Leadership – Dedicated To Batman

“I wear a mask. And that mask, it’s not to hide who I am, but to create what I am.” – Batman

Batman is not a conventional superhero. He inspires others because he is an ordinary man who has strived for and achieved mental and physical perfection, as well as mastering detective skills, deductive reasoning, martial arts, and criminal psychology – along with cutting-edge technology. His pursuit of truth and justice made him a vigilante the city could trust!

Track 2: Strategic IT Management – Dedicated To Gotham City

“I’m whatever Gotham needs me to be.” – Batman

Batman is not driven by ego. He doesn’t care that only a few people know who he really is beneath the mask. Batman trained himself, both physically and intellectually, and donned a bat-themed costume in order to fight crime. All he cares about is honoring his father’s legacy and saving Gotham City. He has a burning desire and extreme passion for something bigger than himself – he was driven to become a brilliant scientist and train his body into absolute physical perfection to fight crime in Gotham City.

Track 3: Lean IT & Agile – Dedicated To The Joker

“They laugh at me because I’m different. I laugh at them because they’re all the same.” – The Joker

To many, the Joker is considered Batman's greatest foe because he's definitely Batman's arch nemesis and the villain who returns most often to cause Batman the greatest overall amount of trouble! A multi-talented arch villain, the Joker’s biggest asset is his mind. He’s resourceful. Even with his insanity, the fact is that he has a brilliant criminal mind. He is not only able to think up complicated schemes very quickly and set up all the necessary tools to get these plans going, but he can also adjust them very quickly and simplify them when he needs to. Another sign of his brilliant mind is that he doesn’t rely on a single way of getting the job done. He uses multiple and very clever methods to accomplish his goals.

Track 4: DevOps – Dedicated To Catwoman

“I am Catwoman. Hear me roar!” – Catwoman

A master acrobat, Catwoman is a gifted and accomplished athlete with heightened acrobatic prowess. Her feats are so amazing, you could argue that her athletic ability is somewhat superhuman. She possesses stealth. Her agility, sense of balance, and reflexes are probably at the highest level that can exist in a human being. Her physical strength is extraordinary for someone who is not bulky – she is a very slim and slender person. Catwoman can credibly fight even martial arts grandmasters such as Batman. Catwoman and Batman have a complicated relationship. She has been Batman's most enduring romantic love interest and is known for her complex love-hate relationship with him. She is sometimes his ally and sometimes a foe!

Track 5: ITIL 4 – Dedicated To Alfred

“And why do we fall, Bruce? So we can learn to pick ourselves up.” – Alfred

Alfred has proven himself time and time again as an indispensable part of Batman’s life. To know the secret identity of a superhero is to have their utmost trust. To help them in their time of need is to have their utmost gratitude. To defend them in their darkest hour is to have their utmost respect. For Batman, Alfred has been more than just a butler to his family, he has been a confidant, a defender, a mentor, and a friend. Pink Elephant’s own “Alfreds” will be on hand to take you through the new ITIL 4 IT Service Management framework, which is set to be introduced in its entirety by Pink20. Over the past three decades, more IT organizations have relied on ITIL, the world’s most successful ITSM model, to help them achieve business value.

Track 6: Organizational Change Management – Dedicated To Mr. Freeze

“Everybody, chill!” – Mr. Freeze

In this track, you will learn everything you need to about Organizational Change Management from Mr. Freeze – a really cool villain! Mr. Freeze uses a freeze gun to freeze areas around him (this would come in handy for IT managers when they want to freeze the desired culture and practices during major change!). Mr. Freeze is a scientist and engineer with a very intelligent mind. As a criminal, he is very resourceful as well as being a cunning strategist. The accident that mutated his body has given him the vital weakness of being unable to survive in a temperate environment, but he is able to overcome this problem with really cool technology (pun intended!).

Track 7: Integrated Service Management – Dedicated To The Riddler

Q: "What is the beginning of eternity, the end of time and space, the beginning of every end, and the end of every race?"
A: The letter 'e'
– The Riddler

So many best practice frameworks! How do they all fit together? The Riddler will teach you.

The Riddler has an obsession with riddles, puzzles, and word games, and he is a criminal genius capable of extraordinary lateral thinking in decoding and formulating puzzles of all kinds. His deductive ability was evident throughout his career as a private detective when he was reformed, during which time he was shown to have investigative skills that rival those of the Dark Knight. Like most of Batman's enemies (and Batman himself), the Riddler has no superhuman abilities but is a highly cunning criminal strategist. He is shown to be skilled with engineering and technology, confronting Batman and Robin with unique and elaborate deathtraps. He is also well known for being Batman's most intelligent adversary.

Track 8: Tools & Technology – Dedicated To The Penguin

“It’s human nature to fear the unusual.” – The Penguin

A very cunning and intelligent fellow, the Penguin utilizes an assortment of customized umbrellas that he weaponizes and transforms in unlimited and very ingenious ways – even as a miniature helicopter! The canopy of the umbrella is sometimes also used as a bullet-proof shield and some are patterned in different ways ranging from a spiral, capable of hypnotizing opponents, to flashy signs. How are you getting the most out of your ITSM tools? These “penguins” will share their best practices with you!
